Sorry but I have to start questioning what that is. Also whenever I restarted to try and get into Bios, screen 1 didn't show me the Bios options, only screen 2 did, and screen one went into Login screen. My restoring was fine as well, I've done it multiple times without trouble.

I burned windows 8.1 on the cd and started to format the PC. In Debian, which package is responsible for creation of /etc/default/grub? The windows was not the problem, it was a legit version working as intended. Formatting can trip up the Windows installer.I have wiped a drive but with Windows 8 the rules have changed.
