System Restore Empty

I've tried entering in all forms of safe mode and it doesn't work. I am using system restore thru the Windows XP and not that of any RECOVERY CD. I did a system restore in safe mode and now when I attempt to boot my computer it gets past the initial hp screen, attempts to start windows and then just Instead of asking for help from some one....do it yourself F-up !!!
